Trauma-Informed Counseling
Accepting Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, UHC, and Aetna Insurance
Healing from trauma requires an approach that respects both your mind and your body. I offer dedicated telehealth counseling designed to help you safely reprocess the past and overcome overwhelming trauma symptoms that can include chronic stress, panic and anxiety, and difficult to manage moods.
Our experiences of adversity are as highly individual as we are, and our experiences are informed by race, culture, neurotype, gender identity, and sexual orientation, just to name a few. I strive to be a safe space, affirming and inclusive of all the parts of you that come into therapy.
Together, we will navigate your healing journey using specialized, somatic, and evidence-based practices tailored to your unique self.
A Sustainable approach
Sometimes our struggles come from a place that’s hard to talk about - or talking hasn’t made the change we are looking for.
EMDR and Flash therapy both use eye movements, tones, or tapping to more efficiently process the thoughts, images, and emotions related to difficult events. Talking isn’t the core of it, experience is, and your brain and body take the lead.
The metaphor I use compares your brain to a puppy. EMDR is like taking a puppy to an off-leash park: If that puppy has spent its life being told to heel, kept on leash, despite its frustration with the situation, it might feel confused and stick close to you when you finally let it free. With a little encouragement, the puppy will explore and discover new things about the world and about itself. Your brain is the same.

Trauma-Informed Talk Therapies
There’s no one-size-fits-all approach. Many folks find incredible value in the experience of finding words to their difficult experiences. I use the Adaptive Information Processing Framework, central to EMDR, to guide talk therapy as well - this is the idea that the nervous system is geared towards healing- we just need to clear the way. In therapy we explore and find language to the experiences underlying your struggles - the thoughts, physical sensations, and emotions connected with them- and find new ways to move forward from there. Elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) can also be included.
Unsure what approach might work best? Or if trauma therapy is even right for you? Reach out for a free 15 minute consult and we can talk more about your unique experience!
